The Challenge
The Sustainable City Challenge, from September 30 to October 4, challenges student teams to come up with creative ideas for a more sustainable Utrecht. Students from ROC Midden Nederland, MBO Utrecht, Hogeschool Utrecht, Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht and Utrecht University are working on this challenge in mixed teams. The challenge takes place at various locations in the city, including Overvecht, Cartesius and Utrecht Science Park.
Together with partners including CABlab, Municipality of Utrecht and Utrecht University, student teams work on challenging issues with the aim of making Utrecht healthier, more livable and greener. Themes covered include Wellbeing, Sustainable Mobility, Healthy Living Environment, Greening and Biodiversity, Energy and Circular.
Expo and Finale
On Friday, Oct. 4, as part of Utrecht Science Week, the students will present their ideas at the expo. They will be happy to discuss them. Afterwards is the final where six teams will present their innovative ideas and you as a visitor can vote for the public winner.
Utrecht Science Week
The Sustainable City Challenge is part of the Utrecht Science Week. The exhibition and finale are the conclusion of this week.
Program
- 3 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. : Exposition Sustainable City presentation all ideas from participating teams (the exhibition can be visited as early as 2:30 p.m.)
- 4:30 - 5:15 p.m: Sustainable City Challenge final
